A
50% penalty is levied on fees paid in January and a
100% penalty on fees paid during February.
No fee may be paid or will be accepted after February each year, resulting in the lapsing of the licence. Once a licence has lapsed,
it has no further legal effect and the licence holder will have to re-apply for a new licence.

to payment and obtaining the original receipt.

Once your licence has been granted, a Form 4 will be issued to you, which must be displayed on the premises.
The licence will become valid once the fee stipulated on the certificate has been paid to any Receiver of Revenue office, on or before the payment date. If the fee is not paid within the stipulated period,
the licence will lapse.

Any member of the South African Police Services may request a copy of your licence
and proof of payment.
A renewal notice will be posted to the postal address stipulated in your original application form. The onus is on you to ensure that this licence is renewed, failing which the licence will lapse.
If there are changes which is relevant to the liquor licence, such as:
- a new licence holder;
- the business having moved to another premises;
- structural alterations to the premises (extended areas);
- a change in controling interest (when membership interest in a Close Corporation or shares in a company has been sold);
application must be made to the Liquor Board to bring these changes to their attention and to obtain their approval.
